How does a WiFi QR code work?
The code holds the network name, its security type and its password. A phone that scans it with its camera offers to join the network.
Is my password safe?
The code is made in your browser. The password is not sent to vCardGen or to anyone else, and it is not kept when you close the page. Anyone who can scan the printed code can join: show it only where your guests are.
Does the code expire?
No. It works as long as the network keeps the same name and password. If you change one of them, make a new code.
Which security do I choose?
WPA for almost every network: it covers WPA2 and WPA3 too, the words on the label of most routers. WEP is only for very old routers. No password is for an open network.
Which phones can scan it?
The camera of recent iPhones and Android phones reads it, with no app to install.
