The service
vCardGen gives you free tools: a digital business card, a restaurant menu and a Google review page, each opened by a QR code, and a QR code generator, a vCard generator and a WiFi QR code. We may change, add or remove features, or stop the service. For an important change we try to tell account holders first.
Your account
You sign in with an 8-digit code sent to your email; there is no password. Anyone who can read your mailbox can sign in as you, so keep it safe. You are responsible for what is done with your account. One account holds up to 10 cards, 10 menus, one review page and 50 QR codes. You must be 16 or older.
What you publish
You are responsible for what you put on your pages. It must be true, and yours to publish.
What is not allowed
- anything illegal;
- pretending to be someone else, or a business you do not represent;
- scams, phishing, and links to malware;
- hate, threats or harassment;
- sexual content;
- other people's personal data without their permission;
- fake reviews, or rewards in exchange for reviews;
- anything that breaks someone else's rights (trademarks, photos, texts).
Google review pages
Follow Google's rules for reviews. Ask every customer the same way: never send only happy customers to Google. Our page always shows both choices to everyone, and you must not get around that. Do not offer anything in exchange for a review. Google is a trademark of Google LLC, and vCardGen is not linked to Google.
For your customers' private messages we act on your behalf: we keep them, mail them to you and delete them when you do (backups: see the Privacy policy), keep them confidential, and use them for nothing else.
Reports and removal
Anyone can report a card or a page with "Report this card" or "Report this page", or by writing to us. A person reads every report. We may take a page offline, delete it, or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, at once when safety or the law asks for it. When we do, we tell you why by email, and you can answer to contest it.
Your rights on your content
What you publish stays yours. You let us store it, copy it (backups included), show it and send it, everywhere and for free, only to run the service, for as long as it is online and then for as long as our backups keep it.
QR codes and addresses
The code of a card, a menu or a review page holds its address. It works only while the page is online: if you delete the page or close your account, a printed code leads to a page that is no longer online. A deleted page's address usually stays closed for 12 months, then someone else may take it. A closed account keeps its addresses. Codes from the free generators hold their content themselves: they never expire and have no scan limit. Test a code before you print it.
A QR code you save in your account holds an address of ours, which opens the link, the contact or the WiFi network you chose: you can change it, and its scans are counted. It works only as long as vCardGen runs it and your account keeps it: paused, deleted, or with the account closed, a printed code no longer opens it. What it opens must follow "What is not allowed", like your pages, and we may suspend a code that does not.
No guarantee
The service comes as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, fast or free of errors. Keep your own copy of what matters (Settings, Download my data).
Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost business or prints you have to redo. Nothing here limits a liability or a right that the law does not allow us to limit.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time in Settings: everything goes offline at once. To have it erased, see the Privacy policy.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming and of the United States, and disputes go to the competent courts of the State of Wyoming. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and may go to its courts.
Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes. For an important change we tell account holders by email before it applies. Using the service after that means you accept the new terms.
